Memorial Plaza
St Louis

This 1950's view shows Memorial Plaza with the Soldier's Memorial at left. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt traveled to St Louis to dedicate the site on October 14, 1936, and the memorial and museum officially opened on Memorial Day, May 30, 1938. The Missouri Pacific Building is behind the Soldier's Memorial. City 66 (12th Street) runs across the photo in front of the Southwestern Bell and Civil Courts Building on the right.
