Each of the 60 units at the Motel Royal, 'The Traveler’s Paradise,' sat well back from the highway, fronting a private parkway and beautifully landscaped courtyard. A photo of the Motel Royal, operated by Carl Catalano, was used by the St Louis Chamber of Commerce as an example of the fine motels in the area.
