The Flaming Pit Restaurant was in the Village Square Shopping Center at I-270 and Lindbergh. Construction on Village Square began in 1959. The center included Gasen's Rexall, a Dairy Queen, Cardinal Travel (owned by Dal Maxville and Joe Hoerner of the Cardinals), Golde's Department Store, Kresge's and the Tri-City Supermarket. It is a business center today, including Sanford Brown Business College, and county government offices.
