Maplewood

Original Route 66 followed Manchester through Maplewood. When James Sutton died in 1877, he left his land to be divided among his nine children. One daughter, Mary C. Marshall, sold to St Louis real estate men. They laid out a subdivision, planted maple trees along the streets, and called it Maplewood. The city was incorporated in 1908.
