The Sunset Ranch Motel opened in 1952 on the south side of Route 66 near Weiss Airport. Airport owner Gene Taylor, also ran the motel. The site was later the Fenton Inn, and is now a Super 8 Motel. The Rose Lawn and the Siesta Motels were also located along this stretch on the south side of the highway
