Built in 1945, the Trail's End Motel's "modern" heated units with showers were later connected. After I-44 was constructed in 1965, owners Willard and Bernice Haley put up the big vertical "MOTEL" sign that is still a landmark. But the court now appears abandoned, and is deteriorating quickly, the yard filled with junked cars.
