In the 1930's, Dill saw an ad for Lookout Maintain painted on the side of a barn. Soon, Meramec Cavern barns appeared all over the Midwest. Dill declared his cave as the "World's First Atomic Refuge". Visitors were even given cards that guaranteed admission if the bombs fell.
