Water Works St Louis
Mark Twain described the St Louis drinking water as "too think to drink and too thin to plow". The Chain of Rocks Water Works was the largest in the US when it opened in 1894. But the filtration process wasn't perfected until just before the 1904 World's Fair. The beautifully landscaped bluff above became a favorite recreation spot.
