The 374-foot long Admiral could carry 4,400 passengers, and a 1940 souvenir booklet bragged that if stood on its end, the "superlatively modern" Admiral would be taller than the Southwestern Bell Building. It was a full city block long, a fact illustrated in the brochure by a drawing showing that if the ship were plopped in the middle of 12th Street, it would dwarf the Jefferson Hotel.
