Ralston Purina
St Louis

Purina Mills founder William Danforth used a checkerboard to illustrate his philosophy that our physical, social, mental, and religious lives must be balanced. In 1902, he joined forces with Webster Edgerly, the founder of the health and social movement known as Ralstonism. The Ralston-Purina headquarters was known around the world as Checkerboard Square.
