In 1953, Anheuser-Busch purchased the stadium. Gussie Busch wanted to name it Budweiser Stadium, but the league balked. The facility was renamed Busch Stadium. The last game here took place on May 8, 1966. Ten World Series were played here as well as three All-Star Games. (1940, 1948 and 1957)
